This Week In Trailers

Three high profile movies come out this week, and if you're going to the movies you'll see a lot of fresh titles ready to be enjoyed. The Judge stands out as the best choice, but Alexander and Dracula look like they may deliver.
Too many new trailers this week to pick out a favorite... Nope. That's a lie. Tomorrowland was a surprise this week, and even though they didn't really show anything I'm really impressed with the trailer.

Woot! I'm back from a lackluster week off, and I'm psyched about all the trailers coming out. Also this week we get a great looking Denzel flick, as well as a film about trolls and boxes.
I'll say it again below, but there is not a green light big enough for Big Hero 6. Will this movie officially send Disney Animation past PIXAR? Also: If that happens, will we have to start capitalizing Disney Animation?

Welcome to the most new releases coming out in a long time. You've got a family movie about dolphins, a gritty crime drama and a home invasion movie... What more could you ask for!
This week also sees the release of a lot of Oscar bait. Chief among them is The Homesman, which simply looks amazing. Not so great looking is Serena, as I just can't get behind anything with Jennifer Lawrence. Does that make me a bad person? If you think it does, let me know in the comments.

It's the first week of the Fall Movie Season! Well... that also means that there are absolutely no new movies coming out. Which isn't to say there is nothing to see, as Guardians of the Galaxy is still here for us.
This week I'm also introducing a "Throwback" trailer to the list. I'll take a movie that opened the same weekend from any number years ago to highlight how great (or mediocre in this weeks case) a film was.

So this weekend we get to find out if people still care to go see a sequel that's taken nine years to be made. The first Sin City was so damn impressive due to it's originality, so I'm curious to see how A Dame To Kill For fares in a sea of visually aggressive movies.
Well, this goes to show that I can't just make great trailers appear. The five new trailers this week are all downers of a sort, just believe that in the future they will start to show trailers from next Summer... I hope.

So, it looks like Summer is going to go out with a whimper. This week you have three new choices, although none of them look like they'll do to well. Let's Be Cops is by far the standout, if only for my love of New Girl.
As with the ending of all seasons, we must have a low rollout of new trailers. Mortdecai looks surprisingly good, and I hope that this is a return to form for Johnny Depp.

Let's be honest. If you're going to go see a movie this weekend there a a lot of new options for you... but you should still go see Guardians of the Galaxy for the first, second, third or fourth time. It's not that everything else looks awful, it's just Guardians is really that good.
This weekend also marks the downturn in new trailers coming out, but that doesn't mean I will leave the tens of you that read this without something to do on your Fridays. You can count on me being here giving you all you need to know, as well as some thoughts as to why so many movies are just... well they're just terrible (see The Second Best Exotic Mangold Hotel below).

Well, my most anticipated of the movie has finally arrived, and boy was it fantastic. Guardians of the Galaxy is a wonderfully irreverent film that should make plenty of money at the box office, as well as (hopefully) paving the way for more obscure Marvel Studios titles.
Next we have an overabundance of great new trailers, with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 being the only Yellow Light (but is that really a shocker if you know me).

Vacation! That's the reason I'm another week behind on the trailers. Granted, there were not that really that many to demand a posting for last week, but it all would have been enough for Big Hero 6 (which looks simply amazing).
This week we have my first RED/YELLOW/GREEN opening, and that means very little right now, but in the future it could mean everything! I would love to give Hercules a GREEN, but it is the very definition of a YELLOW for me... it could really go either way. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

So, I took a week off for the 4th of July... truth be told I didn't want to write about Tammy. Anyway, this week we get a big treat in the form of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. My expectations for this movie started off way low, due to the fact that I really didn't enjoy Rise that much. Now I am incredibly excited to see this movie, as the Reviews have been through the roof.
A lot of drama trailers came out in the last two weeks, with Exodus: Gods and Kings being the only real spectacle release. I thought that the idea of another Moses movie was a little much, but the trailer sold me.

Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon 2
Movie Review
by Tyler Adams
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
PG; 102 min
I loved the first How to Train Your Dragon, which makes my disappointment with this sequel a big surprise. Maybe it was an expectations game, where I had none for the first one and tons for the second... I'll never know for sure. What I do know is this movie just felt off. Yes, it was beautiful to look at and had some nice set pieces, but the characters and story just fell flat for me. Numerous plot holes litter the script, and the voice work never quite lives up to the tone they were trying to achieve. In the end, the film loses itself in an overly busy script that doesn't know what it wants to be. I give How to Train Your Dragon 2 a generous YELLOW LIGHT.

"How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a decent animated film that does not live up to the original's quality."

Wow, it's hard to believe that we are half way through the Summer Movie Season already! As such, its not a surprise that this weekend features what could be the biggest movie of the Summer: Transformers Age of Extinction. Personally, I think it looks like a great popcorn flick and I am uber excited to see Grimlock on the big screen.
As for new trailers, a mixed bag of odd genres. I was surprised by how good Dracula Untold looks and was excited to see Kevin Kline's The Last of Robin Hood. Of course there is also a trailer for The Prince, where I was not shocked at all by the reveal it would be going straight to On Demand.

Well, not every Summer weekend has to be great. Think Like A Man Too and Jersey Boys open this weekend, with both looking mildly... eh. I almost slapped Think with a Red Light because of the "too" in the title, but I like Kevin Hart and will give him the benefit of the doubt.
Not as many new trailers this week, but I'm glad that I came across About Alex. The cast is incredible and it looks like an amazing movie. I'll also watch anything that is called Video Games: The Movie... I'm a sucker for video games and movies.

Movie Review: Edge of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
PG-13; 113 min
Edge of Tomorrow is a fantastic film going experience that allows Cruise to play a very different kind of hero to a very entertaining end. The action is great, the chemistry between Cruise and Blunt is spot on and it does enough to engage you in what you first feel is a predictable story. Yes, this is Groundhog's Day wrapped in Sci Fi trappings, but the storytelling allows it to feel fresh and even surprising at times. If you think you'll skip this one since it's just another Tom Cruise film, you'd be missing out on a great movie. I give Edge of Tomorrow a very big GREEN LIGHT.

"Edge of Tomorrow is at both times familiar and new, providing one of the best new vehicles for Tom Cruise in years."

Howdy everyone. Back again with all of your weekend movie needs. We have another two very different films hitting local cinemas this weekend, with Dragon 2 and 22 Jump Street. Both look respectively good, based on their own very different merits.
As far as new trailers for the week... there are a lot. I mean, like a whole lot of 'em. Honestly, most of them look good. Penguins and Are You Here being the ones I'm looking forward to the most. Let me know what you think of the LIGHTS this week, and I'll see you soon for Jersey Boys.

Yep, I'm back with some trailers for y'all. I've been inspired to get back on the site by my good friend who I can only refer to as "D.A." There are some really good options for your movie viewing this weekend, with "Edge of Tomorrow" for the boys and "The Fault in our Stars" for the ladies. Also, there were a ton of new trailers released this week with "This is Where I Leave You" and "What If" really standing out for me. Let me know what you think of this weeks "Lights" and I will see you next Friday for "22 Jump Street" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2".

Good Friday to you all! Here is another collection of trailers to get you ready for the weekend. I also added a section of trailers for movies that are opening today, so you can plan your weekend accordingly.
I must also say that I threw in the trailer for "24: Live Another Day" even though it is for a TV show, it's still 24 and I can do whatever I want on my own site.
Let me know what you think about my "Lights" this week in the comments below.
